Specialized Electric Furnace Transformer for Mineral Wool Melting

The Rockwool furnace transformer Series is a purpose-engineered power transformer designed specifically for the core melting stage in mineral wool (rockwool) production. Based on proven electro-slag remelting (ESR) technology principles, it delivers the precise, stable, and high-current low-voltage power required to efficiently melt raw materials like basalt or slag into molten fibers. This transformer is the key to achieving consistent melt quality, optimal energy efficiency, and reliable 24/7 operation in demanding industrial mineral wool manufacturing plants.

Description

Product Features

Process-Optimized Power Delivery

Designed for the unique load characteristics of mineral wool melting, which requires a stable, high-current output to maintain a consistent and homogeneous molten pool, ensuring uniform fiber quality.

Stable Low-Voltage, High-Current Output

Engineered with low no-load voltage and low impedance voltage, which are critical for maintaining a stable arc (or resistive melt) and providing precise control over the melting process.

Flexible Process Control

Offers multiple, finely-stepped voltage levels on the low-voltage side, allowing operators to precisely adjust the melting power and thermal profile to suit different raw material batches or production rates.

Integrated & Simplified Design

The melting process typically allows for a compact design without an external series reactor, reducing system complexity, footprint, and total cost while maintaining high electrical efficiency.

Robust for Industrial Duty

Built to withstand the continuous thermal cycling and high electrical loads of furnace operation, ensuring maximum uptime and durability in harsh plant environments.

Specifications & Parameters

Category    Specification / Description
Primary Application Power supply for electric melting furnaces in Mineral Wool (Rockwool) Production.
Phase

Typically Single-Phase (common for focused melting applications). Three-phase  available for larger furnaces.

Primary Voltage Customizable to match plant grid (e.g., 10kV, 35kV).
Secondary Voltage Low Voltage with multiple, finely-graded steps for precise process control.
Key Electrical Design Low No-Load Voltage and Low Impedance Voltage for stable operation.
Tap Changer / Regulation Option 1: Off-Circuit Tap Changer (OCTC)
Option 2: On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC) for dynamic adjustment
Regulation is performed on the high-voltage winding.
Cooling Method Oil-Immersed (ONAF/OFAF) is standard for effective heat dissipation under continuous high load.

Packaging, Warranty & Certifications
 Packaging:
The transformer is prepared for heavy industrial shipping. It is securely mounted on a robust steel skid base. The tank is sealed and filled with dry air or nitrogen. All external fittings are protected, and detachable components are crated separately for secure transit.

 Warranty:
We offer a standard 12-month warranty from the date of successful commissioning or 18 months from the date of shipment, whichever occurs first. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal operation.

 Certifications & Testing:
Our manufacturing process follows a certified quality management system. The transformer is designed and tested according to relevant international (IEC) and national (GB) standards for special application transformers. Each unit undergoes comprehensive routine testing, including ratio, resistance, impedance, and loss measurements, as well as dielectric tests. Special tests can be performed as required.

 Technical Support:
We provide detailed documentation and engineering support to ensure optimal integration with your specific melting furnace and control system.
